London hotel The Lanesborough has become the latest member of the Oetker Collection.
The luxury hotel is the group’s first UK property and will reopen in spring 2015 after being closed since the end of 2013 for refurbishment. It has 93 rooms and suites as well as a spa and dining options that include Aspleys, a cigar lounge, the Withdrawing Room and Library bar.
Frank Marrenbach, CEO Oetker Collection said: “The Lanesborough is clearly a landmark within the European hospitality landscape with an exceptional heritage and a strong and unique identity, and it will fit perfectly in our Collection of Masterpiece Hotels. The partnership between Oetker Collection and The Lanesborough provides a great potential for us to bring our signature service to guests who have a passion for living.”
The hotel’s current managing director Geoffrey Gelardi will remain in the role, having joined the hotel in 1990.
Gelardi added: “We are delighted to join the Oetker Collection which embodies the finest of traditional European hospitality. We think our guests will love the new design and style of service when The Lanesborough re-opens in spring, maintaining its continued success since 1991. After 18 months of complete renovation, our aim is to resume our premier position in the London market.”
The Lanesborough will be sister to the collection’s Le Bristol Paris and joins seven other properties: Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Chateau Saint-Martin & Spa, Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, Eden Rock – St. Barths, Fregate Island Private, Palais Namaskar, and L’Apogée Courchevel.
