American Airlines has announced a second daily flight between London and Philadelphia, a day after Delta announced it will operate on the route.
American will add a daytime service between Heathrow and the US city on 29 March that departs London at 8.20 arriving in Philadelphia at 11.35. The return service will leave the US at 9.55 arriving in London at 22.10.
The new route will be operated by US Airways with a Boeing 757-200 and together with partner British Airways means the joint venture will offer four daily flights year-round on the route.
“One of the benefits of our merger is that we can enhance the service our customers have enjoyed for years in each of our nine hubs,” said Chuck Schubert, American’s vice president of network and schedule planning. “We have flown from Philadelphia to London for 15 years and customers traveling through our PHL hub have unrivalled access to hundreds of destinations in the United States, Europe and beyond.”
Yesterday rival Delta announced a new daily direct service between Heathrow and Philadelphia.
