Carnival Cruise Line has announced a new app and social media internet package as it looks to appeal to more tech-loving customers.
The Carnival Hub app has been unveiled on a pilot basis on Carnival Breeze, which includes ship information and updates on events and activities.
A $5-a-day chat function (think WhatsApp or WeChat) where users can speak to others that have the function is also available.
If successful the app will be rolled out across its fleet within two years.
The cruise line is also testing a package that means cruisers can have unlimited access to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media apps.
Clients can pay $5 a day of $25 per voyage for the higher-bandwidth internet package on Carnival Freedom, Breeze and Sunshine, which if successful will be rolled out to other vessels.
Value and premium packages are available for web access and a faster connection.
“Consumers expect a high level of connectivity even while on vacation and these new enhancements provide our guests not only with helpful tools for getting the most out of their cruise but also a convenient and cost-effective way for keeping in touch with their family and friends while on board,” said Gus Antorcha, Carnival’s senior vice president of guest commerce.
