Travel Counsellors has celebrated a record sales day in its 20-year history after seeing a strong start to 2014.
The travel agency’s highest ever sales day was 16 January when global sales totalled £2.82 million, beating its previous best day of £2.6m in January 2014.
It also set a new company record by seeing the top four selling days in its history during the month, when sales combined were more than £10.8 million.
Its UK sales in the month were up 7% year-on-year generating £40m.
Its corporate travel brand also saw a boost with January says up 9% and 24 of its business specialists seeing more than £100,000 sales.
“January has been an incredibly successful month for our Travel Counsellors and we are delighted to have experienced record sales across our global operations. Throughout what is traditionally a busy booking period for the industry we have been dedicated to supporting our agents and helping them to drive sales and reach out to their customers,” said Travel Counsellors’ managing director Steve Byrne.
He added: “This includes increased marketing support and a focus on the use of our own in-house dynamic packaging system, allowing them to take control of the product they sell and margin they make. As a result on average each UK agent has increased their income by 12% and a record 259 Travel Counsellors had their best ever sales month in January.”
