Passengers onboard an Air France flight from New York to Paris were left stranded at Manchester airport for half a day as the pilot had to stop due to exceeding his maximum working hours.

The plane then suffered a fault.
The plane then suffered a fault.

He had clocked almost almost 13 hours of work, more than the 11 maximum permitted by European Union regulation.

However, due to a pressurisation fault, the rested crew couldn’t continue and Air France had to send three smaller planes to pick up the stranded passengers.

Air France said it was contacting each of its customers to offer compensation.

“Given a need to respect European regulations concerning maximum hours for flying personnel, the crew had to make a stop at Manchester,” the airline said in a statement. “The airline understands well the exasperation of its customers in this situation.”
