FRHI Hotels & Resorts has appointed Helena Suarez its director of luxury sales.
Suarez will be responsible for the company’s luxury sales accounts in the UK, Scandinavia and Spain.
With more than 14 years’ experience in the sales industry, Suarez started her career in the hospitality industry at The Halkin Hotel by COMO in 2001.
In 2002, she became sales executive at The Rubens at the Palace Hotel in London. Suarez has since worked for Oberoi Hotels & Resorts as a senior account manager before joining the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as a director of leisure sales in 2008.
The Global Travel Group has appointed Marie Macdonald sales and business development manager for the south region.
Macdonald will report to commercial director Cherie Richards and will be responsible for strengthening the company’s relationships with its 400-plus independent agent members as well as developing key new accounts.
Macdonald will be instrumental in driving The Global Travel Group’s ambitious growth plans for 2015 and beyond.
Marie Macdonald has more than eighteen years of independent retail experience and has held senior management roles with travel brands including Groupe Pierre & Vacances, TUI Travel and British Airways Holidays.
Farncombe Estate near Broadway in the Cotswolds has appointed Tom Aspey general manager of its two hotels; the award-winning boutique hotel Dormy House and the newly opened Foxhill Manor – an eight-bedroom private house hotel.
Aspey – who grew up in the area – has more than 16 years’ experience working in the hospitality sector, primarily in food and beverage.
He previously worked for the Soho House Group, which he joined in 2010. Most recently he was employed as general manager of Dean Street Town House hotel and oversaw its 39-guestrooms and busy all-day dining operations.
