Regent Hotels & Resorts will return to the US for the first time in 10 years following the signing of a new strategic partnership.
The Taipei-based company has partnered with Cottonwood Management to launch two new mixed-use developments; one in Boston’s Seaport district and another on New York’s Fifth Avenue.
“We have always enjoyed a strong brand presence in the US market as a result of our original properties in New York City, Boston, Chicago and Beverly Hills,” said Steven Pan, Regent’s chairman. “The Regent Beverly Wilshire as appeared in the movie ‘Pretty Woman’ is testament to Regent’s preeminent status as the leading hotel for stars and celebrities.
“We have intended to return to Regent cities in the US and are happy to find the rightful partnership through Cottonwood Management,” he added.
Cottonwood’s Boston development, which will cover more than 90,000m², will include three towers featuring Regent-branded residences and serviced apartments along with extensive retail space, all surrounding a central courtyard. Regent will also launch its new Dining Club concept in Boston, providing a residents and hotel guests with a place for socialising and fine-dining.
Work on the Regent Boston is expected to commence development in autumn 2016, with the opening scheduled for 2020, while the New York property is likely to open in 2019.
Regent currently operates a portfolio of five hotels in Asia and Europe, with four more in the pipeline not including the two US properties.
