Hong Kong’s Plaza Premium Group has unveiled its first transit hotel, located within Singapore’s Changi Airport

The company, which operates independent airport lounges across the world, officially entered the hotel space this week with the launch of the new Aerotel Singapore, which is located near the boarding gates in Terminal 1.

It becomes the first such facility at Changi and the world’s first Aerotel-branded property, following the unveiling of the new concept at ITB Asia in October 2015.

The new property offers 70 rooms and is being billed as the “world’s only [air-side] transit hotel equipped with an outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and pool-side bar”.

“Aerotel Singapore is our first airport transit hotel which meets the demand of transit passengers by promising a comfy airport accommodation.., convenient booking hours, bringing them a brand new home-away-from-home experience in Changi,” said Song Hoi-see, founder & CEO of Plaza Premium.

“By offering a first class Aerotel service but at economy prices, we are confident that this wonderful facility for transit travellers will also help improve the load factor and yield of airline flights using Changi Airport as their transit hub.”

Aerotel Singapore offers three room types, based on size. All guests are offered free Wi-Fi, a choice of pillows, and bathrooms with power showers and amenities. Some rooms also overlook the runway. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool with poolside bar, a jacuzzi and fitness area.

The hotel will be accessible 24 hours a day with bookings for a minimum of six hours. Rates start at SG$55 (approx. US$39).

Following the opening of the Aerotel Singapore, Plaza Premium is planning to introduce the concept to Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow airports in future.
