Japan Week, the annual tourism event organised by Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), will return to New York for a fifth consecutive year next month.
Scheduled to run from 10-12 March at Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall, the event will highlight Japan’s visitor attractions and destinations, focusing on the regions of Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku.
Thirty exhibitors, travel companies and local tourism boards will be in attendance.
Visitors to the event will be offered the chance to sample traditional cuisine from Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku, including a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, and will be able to learn arts and crafts such as ukiyo-e and kabuki make-up.
A record 1.03 million Americans visited Japan in 2015 and the JNTO is aiming to exceed this total in 2016.
