Hilton Worldwide has expanded its portfolio in the South Pacific with the opening of its first DoubleTree property in Fiji.
The new DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Fiji Sonaisali Island is set on a private island, accessible via a short boat ride from the main island of Viti Levu. It offers 120 rooms and suites, which are designed in the style of traditional Fijian bungalows.
“The DoubleTree by Hilton brand has a strong and growing presence in Australasia, with three more hotels in the pipeline,” said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president & global head of DoubleTree by Hilton and the Curio Collection. “The DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Fiji Sonaisali Island is a great addition to our resorts collection, and global travellers are sure to enjoy a memorable tropical getaway.”
F&B outlets at the new resort include three restaurants and bars, which use ingredients grown in the resort’s onsite vegetable farm, herb gardens and fruit orchards.
The property also features one of the largest lagoon-style swimming pools in Fiji, a spa, tennis court, 24-hour fitness centre and space for meetings and weddings, and guests can partake in such activities as horse riding, paintballing, snorkelling, scuba diving and yachting.
The new DoubleTree becomes Hotel’s second property in Fiji, following the existing Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa. It also joins a portfolio of six DoubleTree-branded properties operating in Oceania, and marks Hilton Worldwide’s 22nd hotel in the region.
