The Blue Flag award is presented to beaches ranked highest for water and sea life health, environmental aspects, cleanliness, facilities and safety.

“We are so proud to be recognised as having two of the best beaches located in the UK,” said Daniel Coward, Nature & Environment Team at Haven.

“This year Haven strengthened its commitment to the marine environment with a new charity agreement with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), helping to really tackle threats to our marine habitats, seas and the coast.”

The first award winner is Sandy Bay located at the foot of Haven’s Devon Cliffs Holiday Park in Exmouth boasting half a mile of golden sand. The beach is surrounded by Redstone cliffs along the Jurassic Coast – Britain’s only Natural World heritage site.

The second is the picturesque Lydstep Beach in Pembrokeshire, South Wales, home to dramatic views of the Welsh coastline. Lydstep Beach has both sand and pebbles and is backed by impressive wooded cliffs at either end.
