Hilton has opened its second upscale DoubleTree hotel in New Zealand.
Formerly known as the Chateau on the Park, the new DoubleTree is located adjacent to Hagley Park, within walking distance of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and five minutes’ drive from the city centre.
It will be the second DoubleTree in New Zealand and the country’s fourth Hilton property, in a collection that now comprises locations in Auckland, Taupo and Queenstown.
“Christchurch’s strong tourism market was the key driver for bringing the brand into the city. We are especially proud for the brand to be represented in the re-emerging city of Christchurch – an important hub for both business travellers and leisure tourism in New Zealand,” said Paul Hutton, Hilton’s vice president of operations for Australasia.
Set amongst two hectares of gardens, this recently-refurbished hotel features 192 rooms, the Garden Court Brasserie restaurant, the Den Bar, seven meeting spaces, a business centre, a heated outdoor swimming pool and a fitness room.
The new hotel will be officially known as the Chateau on the Park Christchurch, a DoubleTree by Hilton. It joins the existing DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Queenstown in the brand’s New Zealand portfolio.
