Two more air routes between China and Canada will commence next month, expanding the strong links between the Pacific Rim nations.
China Eastern Airlines this week announced plans to launch the first ever direct service to Canada from Nanjing, the former Chinese capital located of Jiangsu province. Commencing on 20 December 2016, this service will operate three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) using an Airbus A330 aircraft. ‘
China Eastern currently operates flights from Shanghai and Kunming to Vancouver.
Then on 30 December 2016, Beijing Capital Airlines will make its Canadian debut with the launch of a new Hangzhou-Qingdao-Vancouver service. This route will also run three times a week (Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) using an A330.
Following these launches, seven airlines will fly non-stop between Vancouver and mainland China. This growth is being driven by the Canadian airport’s ‘ConnectYVR’ programme, which offers incentives for airlines.
