Australian low-cost carrier Jetstar has announced plans to increase the number of flights it offers over the festive season, including extra capacity to Asia.
Until the end of January 2017, nearly 400 additional flights will operate to some of Australia’s most popular overseas tourist destinations, including Bali, Phuket, Bangkok and Tokyo. Other flights will be added to Hawaii and Osaka, while more domestic flights will serve the Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Perth and the Whitsunday Coast.
Nearly 200 of the additional flights will be operated from Melbourne Airport, with the remaining services divided between Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and the Gold Coast.
Jetstar’s CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka. “Last December and January, more than three and a half million passengers travelled with us and it’s clear Aussies have a love affair with beach destinations. Our Bali, Hawaii and Thailand flights are often at capacity over the holiday season.”
