Korean boost for Lombok tourism

Lombok’s tourism industry will get a significant boost this summer, when Korean Air launches direct flights to the Indonesian resort island.
The Antara news agency reported the general manager of Lombok International Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita, as confirming that the South Korean national carrier will operate a series of charter services from Seoul in July and August 2017.
“Korean Air will open a charter flight for seven times,” he was quoted saying. “This charter flight is, of course, expected to open a fixed route for Korea-Lombok flights.”
Ardita added that the launch of Korean Air’s flights followed a meeting between the airport and the national carrier in April 2017, and that the flights are being supported by the regional government and tourism board of Indonesia’s West Nusa Tenggara province.
South Korea is one of Asia’s fastest-growing outbound tourism markets, and the additional flights will support the Indonesian government’s efforts of attracting 20 million international visitors per year by 2019.
