As one of the world’s most famous weddings nears, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is inviting guests to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at its luxury hotels around the world.
If you’re already excited about the Royal Wedding, you’re just one of the millions of people who will be watching as the Royal Couple walks the aisle to tie the knot. Some will be at the event, watching history as it unfolds. Some will be at home, watching the wedding on the tube. And some will be fortunate enough to feel like royalty – from the comfort of a Fairmont hotel.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts will roll out the red carpet leading to the historic occasion with special offerings, packages and events designed to share ‘royal moments’ with guests and celebrate the monumental union on May 19th.
“For guests gathering to toast Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, our hotels offer a remarkable sense of place, a feeling of being part of history and a link to something meaningful, important and enduring – everything a Royal Wedding promises,” said Sharon Cohen, vice president of Fairmont brand management.
On the big screen
As Megan Markle prepares for her big day, she might be thinking back to her acting days, and more notably, a dream wedding scene with a Fairmont connection. Rachel Zane, her character in the television show Suits, had her heart set on The Plaza, a Fairmont-managed hotel in New York.
The Plaza will be live streaming the wedding while guests enjoy a royal breakfast including a flowing mimosa and Bellini bar. A panel of experts on wedding planning, etiquette and the English royal family will commentate, providing the play-by-play for every happening in St George’s Chapel.
“For all of our guests, whether royalty, celebrities or simply intrepid and worldly explorers, Fairmont hotels create rich emotional connections and are often chosen to celebrate memorable and momentous occasions.”
Toronto has been part of Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s love story. It was in the 2017 Invictus Games where they made their first public appearance together. And in addition, the dream wedding scene in Suits was filmed at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto as a stand-in for The Plaza.
Several Canadian properties including Fairmont Royal York, Fairmont Le Château Montebello, Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu and Fairmont Palliser will celebrate the Royal Wedding on the big screen and offer guests a chance to share the moment with luxury screening events held inside the hotels.
The Fairmont Empress in Victoria will be hosting an exclusive tea throughout May featuring Meghan Markle’s favourite tea, a special blend of liquorice and green tea, as well signature cocktails.
Royal introductions
British Royalty has a long history with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. In 1939, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) officially opened the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and toured several properties including the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Fairmont Banff Springs and the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
Fairmont Château Laurier, Ottawa’s very own fairytale palace, has also played host to many royal figures including the late Princess Diana.
“For more than a century, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has welcomed members of the British Royal Family as cherished guests.”
A royal celebration would not be complete without afternoon tea and Fairmont Banff Springs has created a signature Royal Wedding Tea menu served on weekends for the month of May.
In Barcelona, Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I (named after the former King of Spain) is also celebrating with a month-long Royal Tea throughout May complete with two glasses of Veuve Clicquot Rose and a mini wedding cake in honour of Prince Harry & Meghan.
Fairmont Singapore will be hosting an exclusive daily Royal Afternoon Tea beginning May 14th at the Anti:dote Lounge presented in a beautiful white leather jewellery chest, with a choice of royalty-inspired cocktail – Queen’s Cup, Catherine and the Meghan.
In the USA, Fairmont San Francisco has carried on a storied tradition of receiving royalty from around the world. In celebration of the royal wedding, the hotel is offering guests an exclusive Prince & Princess Penthouse Package, featuring a luxurious one-night stay in the opulent 6,000 square foot Penthouse suite.
British traditions
The Savoy, a Fairmont-managed hotel in London has hosted just about every member of the British Royal Family for dinners, events and celebrations since 1895.
During a wedding reception at The Savoy in 1946, a young Princess Elizabeth was first spotted in public with her future husband, Prince Philip of Greece. Meanwhile, over in Scotland, it was at Fairmont St. Andrews where Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, famously caught Prince William’s eye during a 2001 fashion show.
The Savoy is launching a Royal Afternoon Tea along with ‘The Royal Welcome’ signature cocktail to mark this occasion beginning May 1st.
Fairmont St Andrews promises a day to remember with a royal afternoon tea and a live screening of the wedding in the Atrium Lounge. The centrepiece of the lounge will feature an oversized wedding cake flavoured with Lemon Elderflower, the same as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
With its long history of service to the Royal Family, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts invites guests to join the brand in celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime regal event.
