Haikou, Hainan Province, China

Radisson Hotel Group has announced that it will be launching the upscale Radisson Blu brand in Hainan, China with the opening of Radisson Blu Haikou, slated to open by the end of Q2 in 2020.

Speaking about the potential of the new-build hotel Katerina Giannouka, president of Asia Pacific at Radisson Hotel Group said: “Radisson Blu Haikou will elevate the level of upper-upscale accommodation in Haikou, the capital of Hainan province. Hainan has developed rapidly in recent years and is now a major center of tourism and industry in southern China. We look forward to introducing the Radisson Blu brand to the island with this impressive new hotel.”

Haikou

Haikou is the capital of Hainan, and is the main economic, administrative and transportation centre of the province. Haikou has long been a popular destination for the domestic market, drawn to its sandy beaches and tropical climate.

However, thanks to the relatively liberal entry requirements (30 days of visa-free travel for 59 countries) Hainan has experienced some serious growth with the  total number of tourists in 2008 rising from 20.6 million tourists to more than in 2016, with foreign visitors jumping from 979,800 ten years ago to over 1.1 million in 2017.

“Prime downtown location, ocean views and state-of-the-art facilities”

Radisson Blu Haikou will feature 301 guest rooms and suites, all supported by Radisson Blu’s unique Yes I Can! service ethos. The hotel will host three restaurants and a lounge, as well as other facilities including a pool and fully-equipped fitness center. Additionally, the property will also provide flexible meeting and event spaces complemented with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities.

“We are delighted to partner with Radisson Hotel Group to introduce the Radisson Blu brand to Hainan,” commented Yang Yinghui, executive vice president of operations at Hainan Daye Industry Co., Ltd. “With its prime downtown location, ocean views and state-of-the-art facilities, we expect this property to become one of Haikou’s most popular hotels.”
