Travel agents connected to the Abacus International GDS will soon be able to offer a greater range of attraction and activity content to their customers, following the launch of a new partnership between Abacus and City Discovery.
The travel technology company is integrating City Discovery’s collection of approximately 8,000 concerts, shows, activities, attractions and tours into its new Abacus ContentPlus platform.
Rolling out across the Asia Pacific region in May 2015, Abacus calls ContentPlus a “B2B2C retail platform”. It will enable agents to book and receive instant confirmation for sporting or entertainment events, as well as priority access to multiple attractions. A range of private or group tours are also available in more than 700 destinations, and city passes can be bundled in for the duration of a stay.
“We are adding a new dimension to the services offered by this region’s travel agents, with products that deliver on the promise of experiential travel,” said Martin Symes, Abacus’ chief marketing officer.
“This is about value too. While Abacus agents benefit from the incremental revenue, travellers will enjoy City Discovery’s consistent low price guarantee.”
“All our ground products have been independently reviewed by travellers of varied tastes and so we know we can cater to the range of demand Abacus can channel from all around the region,” added Wladimir Guez, City Discovery’s co-founder & vice president. “This is a huge opportunity for City Discovery and we look forward to fulfilling every reservation made through Abacus ContentPlus.”
Abacus travel agents can sell City Discovery products independently, or tie them into a package with flights, accommodation, car rental, transfers and other elements. Abacus ContentPlus then automatically creates a consolidated “super-PNR” for the package.
Abacus ContentPlus is currently in beta testing and will be offered free as one of the 60 downloadable apps that integrate with Abacus’ agency solution, Abacus WorkSpace.
