Abu Dhabi has a range of openings for this year including attractions and hotels. Here’s a round up of what’s in store.

 

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi 
Miral – the developer behind Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, which will open on Yas Island in 2018 – has revealed that the $1 billion dollar theme park will be made up of six immersive worlds.

The DC Comics universe will comprise two of the six worlds, with Metropolis and Gotham City, the homes of Superman and Batman respectively, designed to draw fans of the super hero franchises.

The next worlds, Cartoon Junction and Dynamite Gulch, will bring together Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo and other famous characters from Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera, while fans of the Flintstones can visit the prehistoric world of Bedrock.

The final world will be Warner Bros. Plaza, a recreation of Hollywood in its ‘Golden Age’, when many of these seminal characters were first brought to life.

In total, the park will span 1.65 million square feet and offer 29 rides, shows and attractions. It will be the third Miral theme park to open on Yas Island, joining Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld.

 

Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece Salvator Mundi to go on show at Louvre Abu Dhabi

Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece Salvator Mundi will go on show at the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum with the date yet to be announced. The work, hailed as one of the greatest artistic rediscoveries of the last 100 years, will go on display alongside another da Vinci masterpiece, La Belle Ferronnière, which is currently on loan from musée du Louvre. ‘From One Louvre to Another: Opening a Museum for Everyone’, the first special exhibition at Louvre Abu Dhabi, opened in December 2017 and will run until 7 April 2018.

 

Miral CLYMB project on Yas Island


Miral has announced its latest project, CLYMB, which will bring the world’s widest flight chamber and tallest indoor climbing wall to Abu Dhabi in 2018.

Visitors to the flight chamber will be able to mimic the experience of skydiving within a width of 9.75 metres (32 feet), making it the world’s widest.

CLYMB will also feature the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall at a height of 43 meters.

 

Hotels

Saadiyat Rotana Resort opening

Located on Saadiyat Island, this 5-star resort is within 20 minutes’ drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport. For business and leisure travellers, Saadiyat Rotana Resort will feature 327 rooms and suites, 13 beach villas, a private stretch of beach and large conference facilities. Guests will have a choice of eight dining outlets and access to the Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Centre.

 

Jumeirah Saadiyat Island to open 2018

Jumeirah Saadiyat Island will offer 293 rooms including eight villas and 70 suites, a spa with 14 treatment rooms and a hammam plus a VIP couples suites with a private entrance.

All rooms will feature views of the sea with six panoramic suites featuring floor to ceiling glass walls, while the eight villas will have their own private pools. There will be three swimming pools and a beach front for guests, and the opportunity to see the Hawksbill ‎turtles come onto shore during the nesting season.

 

Pearl Rotana, Abu Dhabi opening Q4 2017

The second Rotana property to open in Abu Dhabi in Q4, Pearl Rotana, will offer 315 rooms and suites in  Abu Dhabi’s business district. Located near the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the luxury hotel will feature five food and beverage venues, Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club, and seven fully-equipped meeting and boardroom spaces.

 

Abu Dhabi welcomes The Abu Dhabi EDITION

The Abu Dhabi EDITION is set to join the waterfront of Al Bateen in the Abu Dhabi Marina when it opens in 2018. The hotel will have 198 guest rooms and 57 serviced residences. Food and drink outlets include two signature restaurants, a gourmet market, lobby bar, pool bar and three-story nightclub.
