Accor has opened its first ever Sebel Hotel in China.
The new Sebel Xining is located in the capital of western China’s Qinghai province, and has opened as part of a dual development with the new Sofitel Xining.
“The opening of Sofitel and Sebel in Xining will be a strong addition to Accor’s luxury and upscale brand presence in northwest China, with both brands appealing to travellers looking for excellent service and state-of-the-art leisure and business facilities,” said Michel Molliet, Accor Greater China’s senior vice president of operations for luxury and upscale hotels.
The new hotels form part of Xining Xin Hua Lian City Complex – a new luxury mixed-use development which also features a high-end shopping centre, office buildings and residential towers.
The Sebel Xining will add 197 new serviced apartment-style rooms to the complex, all of which feature kitchens and separate living areas. These will complement the 492 luxury hotel rooms provided by the Sofitel. The two hotels will also share a range of facilities, including three restaurants, an indoor swimming pool, gym, spa and 2,500m² of meeting space.
As well as marking the debut of Sebel in China, the Xining property also become the brand’s first opening in Asia. And this growth will continue in future, with Accor already having agreed to open a new Sebel hotel in Yangon.
Accor acquired the Australian hotel brand in 2012 as part of its purchase of Mirvac Hotels.
