Accor has unveiled plans for what will become the largest ibis hotel in Australasia.

The company has penned a management agreement with Action Hotels plc, which will develop the new 368-room budget hotel in Brisbane.
Due to open its doors in 2016, the ibis Brisbane Elizabeth Street hotel will be located in the centre of the Queensland state capital, adjoining the Myer Centre and the Queen Street Mall.

“Accor remains the leader in the economy hotel segment with 60 hotels in the Australian ibis… brand portfolio. The ibis brand has kept up with the changing expectations of consumers through design-led affordable quality hotels. As such, investors are strongly drawn to the ibis brand as exemplified by three new build hotels currently in development and the recent opening of ibis Adelaide,” said Simon McGrath, chief operating officer of Accor Pacific.

“Once operational, ibis Brisbane Elizabeth Street will add another dimension to the brand growth as the largest ibis hotel in Australasia. We are excited to be part of this key development for Brisbane and look forward to working with Action on another successful partnership.”

The new ibis Brisbane Elizabeth Street will join three existing ibis hotels in the city, including the ibis Brisbane, ibis Budget Windsor, ibis Budget Brisbane Airport, while the ibis Brisbane Airport hotel is also planned to open in 2016.
