Air Canada rouge will launch fights from Manchester to Toronto next summer as part of a European expansion.
The Canadian national carrier will operate the route five times a week before 26 June and 13 September 2014.
It will also add frequencies to its Edinburgh service from three to five weekly flights starting in July 2014.
In addition to the upgraded services, the airline will also introduce a new premium economy cabin on flights from Heathrow to Montreal and Vancouver, as well as Executive First and expanded economy cabins from 15 June to 30 September.
Its London-Calgary route will also have more capacity when a Boeing 777-300ER is used on the route from 1 June.
“”The growth of Air Canada’s international network, within forecasts previously announced, is possible due to our ability to deploy capacity and continue growing at significantly lower incremental cost. Air Canada rouge’s successful inaugural season underscores its growing popularity among vacation- goers,” said Air Canada’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer Ben Smith.
“Similarly, the introduction of our new international premium economy cabin has also met with extremely positive customer feedback and we are pleased to continue its introduction with our five specially-configured Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on routes such as Vancouver-London and Montreal-London where market demand calls for a larger supply of economy and premium economy seats, in addition to continuing to offer Executive First business class service,” he added.
In addition to the UK additions, Air Canada rouge will launch flights from Toronto to Lisbon; Montreal to Nice and Barcelona and Toronto to Athens.
Its mainline Air Canada services from Toronto to Barcelona and Dublin have been switched to Air Canada rouge for next summer, as well as its Montreal-Rome service.
“The expansion of Air Canada’s global network to include four new European destinations is a significant turning point in Air Canada’s international growth strategy. With the addition of Air Canada mainline service to Milan, a key business centre, and Air Canada rouge service to popular holiday destinations such as Lisbon, Nice and Manchester, we are offering customers great new options when making their travel plans beginning next summer,” said Smith
