Air Canada will start equipping its fleet with in-flight Wi-Fi next month.
In partnership with Gogo, the national carrier will roll out the service across its North American fleet from May 2014 onwards. It will then commence international trials from 2015.
Air Canada already has two Wi-Fi-equipped Airbus 319 aircraft, and, subject to a final agreement with Gogo, the carrier plans to start fitting its remaining A319, A320, A321 and Embraer 190 aircraft from next month.
The Bombardier CRJ-705 and Embraer 175 aircraft operated by Air Canada Express will also be included in the project, with the goal of equipping 29 aircraft with Wi-Fi by the end of 2014. All 130 of the airline’s single-aisle jets are expected to be completed by December 2015.
“We are extremely excited to expand our partnership with Air Canada and to begin installing Wi-Fi as soon as possible,” said Gogo’s president & CEO, Michael Small.
Air Canada will become the first Canadian carrier to offer in-flight Wi-Fi.
