Air China has applied for permission to launch direct flights between Chengdu and Paris.
In a statement on the website of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the aviation authority revealed that the carrier is planning to launch the new service in October this year.
If approved, the route will operate four times a week direct between Chengdu’s Shuangliu International Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle, using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The route will become Air China’s second European connection from the capital of Sichuan province, joining its existing Chengdu-Frankfurt flights. The airline also connects Paris with Beijing and Shanghai.
Air China will not be the first airline linking southwest China with Paris however; in April this year China Eastern Airlines launched a thrice weekly service to Paris from Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province.
