Air France Group has put forward proposals to shift all short-haul flights to subsidiary HOP!.
HOP! would operate the services from summer 2015 in a move that the group hopes will help profit recovery in the short-haul market in three years.
A simplified structure would be put in place under the lead of HOP! chairman and CEO Lionel Guerin that would be in effect from the start of 2015.
Frédéric Gagey, Air France chairman and CEO said: “The short-haul activity sits in competition with trains, cars, and low-cost airlines. We need to restructure our company to be even more responsive market-oriented, and accessible to our customers. HOP! Air France provides a response adapted to the specific characteristics of short-haul carrier activity, and the travel needs of our customers. I am counting on the efforts of all staff to achieve the ambitious targets for this business.”
