Air France unveils travel insurance for flight delay
Air France has launched a new proactive travel insurance in partnership with Allianz Travel, which will see customers compensated EUR 50 (USD 56.44) if their flight is delayed by more than two hours.
The carrier says that the compensation is valid for all flights operated by Air France, whatever the destination, on both outbound and inbound flights. Air France has stressed the payment can be combined with the financial compensation offered by the airline under European Regulations.
“We offer customer an even simpler trip with minimum stress.”
Noël Ghanimé, CEO of Allianz Partners France said: “This insurance constitutes a real asset for the end customer as we are meeting their expectations proactively. This innovation is the result of a genuine co-creation between Air France teams and our own. Initial feedback from beneficiary customers has been excellent.”
“Customer satisfaction remains at the heart of our commercial strategy”
Patrick Alexandre, executive vice president of commercial, sales and alliances at Air France-KLM, commented: “We have strengthened our joint offer with Allianz Travel with this new service. With proactive insurance, we offer the customer an even simpler trip with minimum stress, notably in the event of travel delays. Customer satisfaction remains at the heart of our commercial strategy.”
Customers do not have to file claims or provide receipts to receive the compensation – they will automatically receive an SMS and email following a reported delay of more than two hours, with a link directing them to a secure website where they can input their booking reference and bank details. The payment will then be made within five days.
