Air New Zealand will ramp up its North American routes next year, adding 5,000 extra seats per month to its San Francisco, Vancouver and Los Angeles routes.
From April 2013, the national carrier will operate daily return flights on the Auckland–San Francisco route, up from five flights per week, while the Auckland-Los Angeles service will increase from 12 flights per week to twice daily. Air NZ will continue to operate a third LA flight once a week in peak periods, including the July and October school holidays.
The Auckland-Vancouver route will also see an increase in capacity, with three weekly services in off-peak periods (up from two), rising to five weekly flights in peak seasons.
The latest North American expansion builds on the extra frequencies the airline added in March this year, and Air NZ said it expects “further capacity additions beyond July 2013” to be announced in the coming weeks.
“This is a huge boost for the visitor economy from North America and offers additional opportunities for New Zealand exporters,” said the airline’s Deputy CEO, Norm Thompson.
