AirAsia India will add another destination to its domestic network next month, when it launches flights to Pune.
Effective 17 December 2014, the low-cost carrier will commence flights on two new routes, Bengaluru-Pune and Pune-Jaipur. Both sectors will be operated daily using AirAsia India’s fleet of 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
Pune, the IT hub in the state of Maharashtra, will be an entirely new destination for the low-cost carrier, while Jaipur, in Rajasthan, will mark the airline’s continued expansion in northern India. Earlier this year, AirAsia India commenced flights from Bengaluru to Jaipur and Chandigarh.
“With the surge in business and leisure travel, we believe Pune has tremendous potential,” said AirAsia India’s chief executive officer, Mittu Chandilya.
AirAsia India will become the first airline to operate the Pune-Jaipur route direct.
