airBaltic has launched a direct route linking Riga and Aberdeen.
The airline flies from Riga to Aberdeen three times weekly and passengers will board a Boeing 737 for a flight lasting two hours and 35 minutes.
One-way ticket prices start at 39EUR (approx GBP33) including airport fees and transaction costs.
Wolfgang Reuss, SVP of network management, airBaltic said: “We are delighted to add Aberdeen to our expanding route map. Aberdeen is known as the “granite city” due to the large number of buildings made from the rugged local stone which make it one of the most architecturally interesting cities in the whole United Kingdom and a beautiful holiday destination.”
Carol Benzie, managing director, Aberdeen International Airport said: “It is fantastic to welcome Air Baltic back to Aberdeen today with the launch of our Riga route. The route will provide Aberdeen holidaymakers with easy access to a number of increasingly popular destinations in the Baltic states, such as Tallinn, Palanga and Vilnius, which was one of the most requested destinations in a leisure survey we undertook with our local community last year. We are continually working to strengthen our route network and I am delighted to add the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Riga to our ever-expanding list of leisure routes.”
