Egyptair is to start flights between Manchester and Cairo on 1 June. The new service will operate five times a week on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Specialist Discover Egypt is offering package holidays to Egypt using the flights.
Flybe has launched new flexible fares giving added benefits to its standard air prices. The new ‘Flybe Flex’ option allows clients to change the date, time and route of their flight as often as they want for at an additional GBP5.99 (or more, depending on route and time) on top of its basic Essentials ticket.
Two more low-cost carriers have joined the new GDS shopping solution, Travelport Merchandising Platform. Jet2.com and Norwegian have both added their products to the Aggregated Shopping section of the platform, which consolidates shopping results from traditional carriers and LCCs in the same place, negating the need to compare across several different screens. The solution was launched last month with another European LCC, easyJet.
Oman Air has placed an order for three Airbus A330-300 wide-bodied aircraft. The aircraft will be operated on long-haul routes and amounts to an US718.2 million investment. Oman Air already has seven A330s in service, one of which was forced to make an emergency landing while en route to Kuala Lumpur from Muscat. A passenger onboard had told crew that he had been informed a bomb was onboard, but when the aircraft returned to Muscat no explosives were found. The Tuesday flight took off again eight hours later.
Star Alliance has introduced a new iPad app offering customers the chance to view its entire global network of flights and services. The Navigator app features an interactive 3D globe which visually depicts the network of 27 airlines offering more than 21,900 daily flights to 1,329 destinations. It also includes a ‘My Trip’ feature which enables customers to store and monitor their flight itineraries, as well as frequent flyer info, booking contact numbers, images and videos.
KLM and Pegasus Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement. The codeshare will come into effect for sales from 27 May for travel from 3 June. It will allow for easier transfers between Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen airport and Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport.
