Qantas has announced that Eric Jelinek, its current regional general manager for the UK, Ireland & Europe, will be returning to the airline’s headquarters in Sydney to take up a new role.
Jelinek has headed up Qantas’ European operations from London for the past three and a half years, developing the airline’s partnership programmes in the region and building relationships with trade and corporate customers.
But from February 2016 he will return to Australia to head-up Aquire Qantas Loyalty, the airline’s loyalty scheme for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Replacing Jelinek in London will be Markus Svensson, who takes on the expanded role of regional general manager for the UK, Ireland, Europe, Middle East & Africa from 1 March 2016.
Svensson has been with Qantas since 2011, initially heading up group strategy – a role that saw him play a role in developing the Qantas-Emirates partnership. More recently he served as the airline’s head of international revenue management.
