In the wake of the news that Amadeus’ level 3 certification for the updated Altéa NDC was renewed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the company has now announced it has also been awarded IATA’s level 3 New Distribution Capability (NDC) certification as an aggregator.

IATA only distributes its level 3 recognition to organisations which are able to “demonstrate the ability to execute offer and order management”, which means that Amadeus is able to share and distribute NDC content from airlines to travel agents.

Commenting on Amadeus’ success Yanik Hoyles, director of the new distribution capability program at IATA, said: “By achieving NDC Level 3 certification as an aggregator, Amadeus is demonstrating its commitment to driving the industrialization of NDC, supporting a new era of airline retailing that will deliver a better shopping experience for air travellers. This certification solidifies the great progress made by Amadeus to date and I look forward to see what’s coming next.”

“The NDC-X program is in full execution mode”

Alongside the previous award for the Altéa product,  Amadeus is now one of the only companies to hold dual level 3 certification. An achievement which comes, in no small part, from Amadeus’s recent partnership with OTA Travix, as pointed out by Gianni Pisanello, vice president of the NDC-X program for Amadeus, who said:

“We are pleased to be working with online leader Travix, and to be one of the first providers in the industry to achieve dual level 3 NDC certifications. The NDC-X program is in full execution mode and this is the latest example of Amadeus enabling the reality of NDC for the industry. We’re making great progress on our mission to enable our airline customers to make their new NDC content available to our global travel-sellers network – at scale.”

“Our teams will be using this NDC-enabled solution to shop, order and pay through Amadeus”

John Mangelaars, CEO of Travix added: “It’s been an exciting few months working with Amadeus, as part of the NDC-X program, to design a solution which will give online travel sellers access to aggregated NDC and non-NDC content. Later this year, our teams will be using this NDC-enabled solution to ‘shop, order and pay’ through Amadeus. The latest certification shows the strength of our partnership and capabilities using IATA’s NDC standard.”
