ANA has introduced a self-service new baggage drop facility for passengers at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

The first service of its kind in Japan, the new baggage drop facility is available for domestic departures from Haneda’s Terminal 2 from 1 July 2015.

Available in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean, the service will allow passengers to drop off and tag their bags off at the airport, without the need to wait in queues for traditional counter services.

The facilities will be located alongside the airline’s automated check-in machines.

“At ANA, we continuously strive for the highest global standards of service, in order to enhance convenience for our customers,” said Tetsuo Fukuda, ANA’s executive vice president of customer & product services.

“We are proud to offer the first automated baggage drop stations in Japan; this is the latest offering in our mission to create a seamless check-in process for our guests, and we plan to roll out more services in the months to come.”

ANA now plans to install a total of 39 self-service baggage drop machines by the end of 2015. Once completed, this will mark the largest number of baggage drop systems in one airport in the world.
