ANA to equip all crew with iPads
ANA is planning to equip all of its 2,500 flight crew members with iPads.
The Japanese airline has already given the tablet devices to its cabin crew, but the roll-out will continue to include all ANA cockpit crew. ANA said the move was part of its corporate strategy “to support corporate structural reform to drive high-quality operations and cost efficiencies”.
ANA will trial the iPads with 300 crew members for three months from September 2012, following which they are expected to be rolled out to all flight crew members from February 2013.
According to the airline, the iPads will offer updated information, enabling flight crews to change course in cases of bad weather or expected turbulence, as well as giving more accurate passenger and cargo information, and enabling the storage of all manuals, thus reducing printing costs.
