All Nippon Airways (ANA) has unveiled plans to roll-out its Boeing 787 Dreamliners on new routes to Germany.

From 30 March 2014, the Japanese carrier will launch a new brand new Dreamliner route connecting Tokyo Narita Airport with Dusseldorf, as well as switching its Munich service from Narita to Tokyo Haneda Airport. This route will also be operated using the B787.

Meanwhile the airline’s existing Narita-Frankfurt service will also be moved to Haneda, and will be operated using a B777-300ER aircraft.

The new flights will be operated as part of ANA’s joint venture with Star Alliance partner Lufthansa.

“We are delighted to announce the expansion of our German network which, along with our joint venture with Lufthansa, will enhance our services to Germany and Europe as a whole. The new expanded network will enable us to offer our customers greater choice, connectivity and convenience in both Japanese and European markets,” said ANA’s president & CEO, Osamu Shinobe.

The new Narita-Dusseldorf flight will operate daily, departing the Japanese capital at 1100 and arriving in the German city at 1600. The return service will leave Dusseldorf at 1835, getting back into Narita at 1300 the next day.

Flights on the Haneda-Munich route will leave at 1235, getting into the Bavarian city at 1720. The return leg departs Munich at 2125, arriving back into Tokyo at 1550 the next day.

And while ANA’s service from Narita to Frankfurt will be suspended, the airline will still codeshare on Lufthansa’s daily flights on this route.

“The inclusion of Haneda Airport in our flight schedules is for our passengers a tangible outcome of the strategy we pursue together in our strategic joint venture with our partner airline ANA. Not only that, it also distinctly improves and grows the services we offer in Japan through vastly better flight connections into the Japanese domestic network,” said Lufthansa’s CEO, Christoph Franz.

The German expansion follows the recent announcement of ANA’s new flights from Haneda to Hanoi and Vancouver, both of which will also commence in 2014.
