Ponant, the French-flag cruise line, has been acquired by Artemis, the holding company of the famous Pinault family.
Founded in 1988 and based in Marseille, Ponant specialises in polar expeditions. In 2015, Ponant will carry nearly 30,000 passengers with turnover topping €145 million, representing a year-on-year increase.
For the past three years, Bridgepoint, a major European investor on the unlisted market, has owned the company.
