Asian airport traffic continues strong growth

Asia Pacific’s airports continued to experience strong passenger traffic growth in November 2013.
According to the latest data from Airports Council International (ACI), the region’s airports handled approximately 116 million passengers during the month – 6.1% more than in November 2012. International passenger traffic (+7.3%) accelerated at a faster rate than domestic traffic (+5.4%).
Beijing Capital and Tokyo Haneda remained the region’s busiest airports in November, handling 6.6m and 6.2m passengers respectively.
But the strongest growth was seen in Thailand, where Bangkok Don Mueang and Chiang Mai airports both recorded growth in excess of 20%. Double-digit increases were also seen at Kuala Lumpur, Siem Reap, Phuket and Phnom Penh airports.
For the first 11 months of the year, Asia Pacific’s airport have now seen a 7.2% rise in passenger traffic.
