Austrian Airlines has launched its non-stop service from Vienna to Sri Lanka.

In addition to the Maldives and Mauritius, Colombo represents the third route to the Indian Ocean served by Austria’s national carrier, which is continuing its focus on long-haul tourist destinations.

“We are the only European airline in the German-speaking region of Europe which flies directly to Colombo. For this reason, we also hope to attract passengers from Germany and Switzerland,” said Andreas Otto, chief commercial officer of Austrian Airlines.

In the upcoming winter flight schedule, Austrian Airlines is flying to six destinations in Asia, namely Colombo, Bangkok, Maldives, Peking, Tokyo, and also Mauritius as of 29 October.
