International Airport (KLIA) at 2209 today (20 April), made an air turn back towards Kuala Lumpur and landed safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

“Malaysia Airlines flight MH192 that made an air turn back towards KLIA has landed safely at 0156,” the airline state on its twitter handle. The flight operated on the B737-800 aircraft, was scheduled to arrive in Bangalore at 2335 on 20 April.

Earlier, the airline stated that the aircraft’s right-hand landing gear malfunctioned upon takeoff which led to an emergency landing at KLIA at around 0200 (local time) on 21 April.

However, in an official statement released after the aircraft safely landed at KLIA, the airline said that one of the tyres on the right hand main landing gear burst during takeoff. The Captain was alerted by the Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control about tyre debris being found on the runway.

The aircraft carried a total number of 166 people on board, which included 159 passengers and seven crew members. The flight is now rescheduled to depart KLIA today at 1530 and touch Bengaluru at 1700.
