bmi regional has signed a new codeshare agreement with Lufthansa on flights from Bristol to Germany.
The new agreement applies on 11 weekly flights from the south-west England city to Frankfurt and six-times-a-week services to Munich.
As well as taking passengers to Germany the routes are also expected to be popular for connecting flights into Asia, the Americas and Africa.
Speaking to Travel Daily, bmi regional’s CEO Cathal O’Connell said: “There is a very diverse range of business and leisure needs in the south west so to have signed this codeshare agreement is a real positive. We would hope to boost the frequencies in the future but we definitely see growth opportunities from Bristol and part of our strategy is to be a convenient start point for travel.”
The codeshare agreement is bmi regional’s second in a matter of weeks having recently announced a partnership with Brussels Airlines on flights from Newcastle to Brussels.
“We have seen very popular signs from the Brussels route even after just a few days of tickets going on sale,” O’Connell said.
Last week the airline also introduced refreshed catering on its flights, with passengers to now receive a ‘bmi bistro’ snackbox as part of their fare.
