Garuda Indonesia has taken delivery of its first Bombardier CRJ1000 regional jet.
The national carrier is the aircraft’s launch customer in the Asia Pacific region and intends to operate a total of 18 of the aircraft – six purchased direct from Canada-based Bombardier and 12 on leases – with options for a further 18.
“The Asia Pacific region represents a key market for Bombardier,” said Torbjorn Karlsson, Bombardier’s Vice President for Asia Pacific Sales. “Growing hubs and cities in the region, such as in Indonesia, are expected to become gateways for opening new routes in the very near future. We are thrilled to see the CRJ1000 NextGen airliner coming to the region and setting the pace in efficient service to growth markets centred around emerging city pairs.”
The CRJ1000 aircraft is the largest of Bombardier’s CRJ series, typically seating 86 passengers in a two-class configuration. It competes in the regional jet market with aircraft such as the Embraer E-190.
