Several Brazilian airlines and hotels have agreed to cap the prices they will charge during the World Cup.
Football fans will find some relief after the Telegraph reported Avianca Brasil and Azul Linhas Aereas have promised to cap domestic flight costs during the tournament this summer.
The initial cost of domestic flights was thought to be around GBP600 but will now not go past GBP260 under the airline promise.
Avianca’s guarantee applies to flights between February and July, with Azul’s covering June and July only.
Flight costs could also be driven down if Brazilian carriers are granted extra routes during the summer period to cope with the demand.
In addition to the flight costs, hotels in Rio de Janeiro have agreed to not charge more during the tournament than they do at New Year.
While the average nightly rate will still be higher than usual, they will not rise as much as first thought.
It is hoped the agreement will be in place across all the 12 World Cup venues.
News of lower prices could convince more fans to travel out to Brazil for the games, with tourism authorities previously concerned that high costs would mean they would stay at home.
