It’s less than four months until the start of the Tour de France and Normandy’s historic Mont St Michel will be the backdrop for this year’s Grand Départ.
The peloton will be leaving the world heritage site for the first stage of the cycling marathon on 2 July, arriving on Utah Beach, 188 km later.
Brittany Ferries is sponsoring this year’s Grand Départ. And to celebrate, in the run up to the event, the company is offering a gourmet mini-cruise including lunch at a restaurant in the Grande Rue of the Mont St Michel itself.
The offer includes overnight cruise-ferry crossings to St Malo, departing Portsmouth, ensuite two berth cabins both ways and buffet dinner on the outbound sailing. The following day it’s lunch at La Croix Blanche, just 30 minutes’ drive from the port. The three course meal is prepared using locally sourced produce.
In addition to gourmet cruises, Brittany Ferries offers regular sailings to Cherbourg from Poole and Portsmouth, and departures to St Malo and Caen. While already busy for the Tour de France, spaces are still available on certain crossings, especially on sailings during the day.
In addition, on 3 July, fastcraft Normandie Express and cruise-ferry Bretagne have been scheduled to provide a full day trip to experience the Tour de France. Those travelling on Normandie Express to Cherbourg will have at least nine hours ashore; those travelling on Bretagne, a little longer.
