Buildings crumbled in Bali this morning when the popular tourist island was shaken by a magnitude six earthquake. According to AFP, at least 50 people were injured, suffering broken bones and head wounds as walls and ceilings caved in on them. Homes, schools and temples were damaged by the tremour, which sent people running into the street in panic, ignoring safety procedures in the process. The quake epicentre was located 100km southwest of the island, 36km below the ocean floor and was felt in the neighbouring Lombok Islands and Java. However, the shock was not strong enough to trigger a tsunami, thus no warning was issued.
