China Eastern Airlines has launched a new service connecting Los Angeles with two Chinese cities: Chengdu and Nanjing – the respective capitals of Sichuan and Jiangsu provinces.
The new trans-Pacific route commenced on 30 June 2015 and will now operate three times a week.
Services will depart Chengdu’s Shuangliu International Airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 0930. Following a stop in Nanjing, the flights will arrive at Los Angeles International Airport at 1100 the same day, having crossed the International Date Line. The return flights will then leave LA at 1330 and arrive back into Chengdu at 2150 the next day, also with a stop in Nanjing.
China Eastern will deploy a two-class, 234-seat Airbus A330-200 jet on the route, configured with 30 flat-bed seats in business class and 204 seats in economy.
Shanghai-based China Eastern becomes the first carrier to link Chengdu and Nanjing with LA.
The new route follows the recent launch of another new route linking southwest and eastern China with North America; last week, China Eastern started operating three weekly flights between Kunming and Vancouver, via Shanghai.
