China Southern to retire old Boeing 777s

China Southern Airlines will retire it fleet of older Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
The airline has four of the twin-aisle aircraft remaining in its fleet, with the final flight due to depart on 7 December 2014. They will be replaced by China Southern’s new fleet of B777-300ERs and B787-8 Dreamliners.
The old B777-200ER has been operated by China Southern for 19 years, serving long-haul routes to Europe, North America and Australia. The airline ordered six B777-series aircraft from Boeing in 1992, including four B777-200ERs, with the first being delivered in December 1995.
The aircraft is fitted with 284 seats – 56 more than the B787 but 25 fewer than the B777-300ER. Following the retirements, China Southern will operate a fleet of more than 50 twin-aisle jets, including B777s, B787s, Airbus A330s and A380s.
