Sichuan Airlines has applied for permission to link two more Chinese cities with Nepal.

The Chengdu-based has requested permission from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to launch three weekly flights from Tianjin to Kathmandu, via Xi’an, using its Airbus A319 aircraft.

If approved, flights could commence as early as next month.

Sichuan Airlines will become the first airline to connect the Nepalese capital with both Tianjin and Xi’an. The carrier already operates flights to Kathmandu from Chengdu, via Lhasa.
