A Chinese cruise passenger has been rescued from the sea 38 hours after falling overboard.
The Shanghai Daily reports that the 31-year-old woman, identified as Wang Si, spent more than a day and a half stranded in the water before she was finally found and rescued by a fishing boat.
She had been a passenger on a Royal Caribbean’s cruise from Fukuoka to Shanghai, when she somehow fell from the Mariner of the Seas cruise ship (pictured) on 10 August, at around 9pm. She was eventually found at 11am on 12 August.
Her survival is all the more remarkable as she had nothing to hold onto. Speaking of her ordeal, the woman said she struggled to remain awake and afloat, and had to swim away from big ships.
