Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) has entered the German cruise market by acquiring TransOcean Kreuzfahrten.

The UK-based cruise line has resumed responsibility for the charter, operation and marketing of the 600-passenger Astor which it had already used on some routes.

The agreement also includes 586 cabins across four river cruise ships, named Belvedere, Bellefleur, Bellejour and San Souci.

All the vessels will continue to be marketed under the TransOcean brand in the German-speaking market with current distribution channels.

“CMV’s entry into the German market is another important step in the expansion and strategic development of the Group’s presence in the wider international market,” said Christian Verhounig, CEO and chairman of CMV.

Chris Coates, commercial director of CMV added: “We are confident that with the professional expertise, vast experience and IT capability at our disposal we can emulate the successful strategies introduced in the UK and Australia and expand our presence in Germany, Europe’s second largest cruise market”.

CMV now has offices in the UK, Munich, Fort Lauderdale and Sydney.
