Luxury London hotel The Corinthia has revealed a series of developments to help it tap into the Chinese market.

As well as its recently penned deal with Union Pay, which will allow guest payments to be processed from mainland China, the hotel has hired a number of Chinese speaking staff.

There are Cantonese and Mandarin speaking therapists and Mandarin speaking receptionists, sommeliers and assistant restaurant managers.

The hotel has also hired a dedicated Chinese sales executive, Beijing born Ivy Jenkins (pictured).

“It is important for Chinese guests to know that someone in the hotel is looking after them during their stay. They often call me seeking advice and recommendations on where to visit or where to shop,” said Jenkins.

“Modernity is one of the most important aspects for the Chinese visitors when choosing a hotel, so the contemporary residential style interiors and 21st century amenities of Corinthia London are well received”, says Jenkins. “However, they also love the grand history of the building which dates back to 1885. Our Harrods gift shop is also very impressive for guests; it’s an iconic London attraction right in our lobby.”
